Funding Efforts For MOD 2011 Now Underway

Fundraising efforts for Mod nan Eilean Siar 2011 are now underway with the first draw of the Mod 400 Club taking place.  The first draw, which will be held monthly from now until October 2011, offers the top prize of £250, a second prize of £100 and a third of £50.

The first draw was held last Friday 28th August 2009 on Isles FM’s popular Drive-time programme and present were two representatives from two major Mod sponsors, Calum MacLean of Pròiseact nan Ealan and Iain Don MacIver of Caledonian MacBrayne.  Winner of the top prize was Norah MacDonald of Point with Fiona Knape of Arnol winning the second prize of £100 and Dolina MacKay of Upper Coll winning the third prize of £50.

The picture shows Norah MacDonald accepting her prize from Convenor of the Local Mod Committee, Alex A MacDonald and also on display are new Mod banners which will be used to publisise the Mod at various events in the run up to 2011.  Mr MacDonald commented: “I am delighted to present this cheque to Norah and I am pleased that the 400 Club is now underway.  A great deal of fundraising is still to be done and members of the public can look forward to a whole host of events aimed at raising the profile of Mod nan Eilean Siar 2011”.

Anyone wishing to take part in the 400 Club can do so by contacting dmacdonald@iname.com or by picking up an application form from An Comunn Gàidhealach Offices in Perceval Square, Stornoway.  The 400 Club is set up as a Direct Debit and costs £5 per month.
